This is not the way things should be! While it's hard to say exactly how long a bathing suit should last, as there are many factors that affect its lifespan, many people *are* having to throw away their bathing suits far too often. You should not have to buy a new swimsuit every month, or even every two months. If you want your suits to last longer, two things need to change: the type of suits you are buying, and the way you're caring for your suits.  Here are some more specific tips to help you buy longer-lasting swimwear and keep it in great shape for longer. ## **Look for chlorine-resistant swimwear.** Chlorine in pool water serves the important purpose of keeping the water sanitary. However, an unfortunate side effect of chlorine is that it bleaches out a lot of fabrics and causes them to lose elasticity over time.Swimwear that contains Nylon  or spandex are prone to these effectso Cheaper swimwear made with low-quality fabric is most prone to these effects. These bathing suits may become stretched out and faded within a few uses in a properly chlorinated pool. For longer-lasting suits, look for chlorine resistant swimsuits from a company like H20 Wear. Made from polyester, a material that is naturally resistant to chlorine, these swimsuits stand up to the effects of chlorine for much longer. Chlorine resistant swimsuits stay supportive and colorful so you continue to feel comfortable and confident in the water. The use of a chlorine removal solution not only helps maintain the fabric it also eliminates the odors of the pool** The longer you let chlorinated water sit in contact with your swimwear, the faster the material will wear out. You should always rinse your bathing suit in cool water immediately after taking it off. For even better effects, try using a chlorine removal solution, which will extract any last remnants of chlorine from the material. ## **H2o** Swimwear can be gently machine washed and tumbled dried do not wash with bleach **Let your swimsuit drip dry.** After rinsing, always let your bathing suit drip dry. Never put it in a washer or a dryer; these machines just cause more wear to the suit. Don't use your hands to aggressively wring out your bathing suit either, as this can cause the material to stretch and distort. If you are worried that your suit won't be dry before the next time you want to use it, invest in a second suit. Many avid swimmers have at least two swimsuits so that can rotate between them and always have a dry suit.
